Literature Text

As mysterious as the sound of one hand clapping
It comes from things we cannot understand
The guilt of something you did not do
It flows in like liquid mercury
And slowly poisons you

As mysterious as patterns in the static of your television
It comes from things we do understand
But still comes from something you did not do
It still sits in your body
Poisoning you

Your tongue turns to sandpaper every time you go back
The taste of roughness in your mouth
Almost as if it is mocking you
For that separation

As time progresses
You learn to forget
You learn to forgive
But it's still my fault
I was asked to write a poem about something that happened in my past, this is a freeverse poem, it has no rhyme scheme or anything contemporary like that. It's kind of an over exaggeration of the way I feel though.
